This project is supported by Indiana University's College of Arts and Sciences' Dissertation Research Fellowship.

I made this website to show some of the films that I study in my dissertation project.

This site has the function of an archive that contains films that were produced, exhibited and distributed between the 1920s and 1980s.

These films had many different purposes. Some of them were used to build public diplomacy between the U.S. and Turkey. Other ones aimed to increase nationalism in Turkey.

These multi-purposed films had many different exhibition sites including public spaces, schools, hospitals, churches, factories and even prisons.

These films are extremely important historical documents to understand government-sponsored films in the case of the U.S.-Turkey relations.
